Welcome to CIH Unlocked, our member-exclusive publication delivering expert housing insight and analysis straight to your inbox.
It's been roughly six months since the English social housing regulator launched its new consumer standards regime. While only a handful of registered providers have so far been inspected, we're starting to get a clearer idea of what proportion of landlords are likely to be deemed fully compliant and how many others will have more work to do. In our lead piece, we talked with five of the nine providers that have so far received a C1 grade to glean insight into what it takes to get top marks and the good practices that others in the sector can learn from.
Elsewhere, Eastlight Community Homes chair Hattie Llewelyn-Davies explains why they've decided to stop using the term 'vulnerable' to describe certain tenants; and Clare Tetlow, from social housing procurement specialists Procure Plus, explains why the Procurement Act delay may not be such a bad thing.
We've also got policy updates from our teams in Northern Ireland and Wales, where there's been much movement and change over recent months.
As always, you'll find a few other bits to get stuck into, digest and enjoy. And do stay tuned for the next issue in two weeks' time, where we'll be covering all the big talking points from the upcoming Northern Housing Festival.
