Welcome to CIH Unlocked, our member-exclusive publication delivering expert housing insight and analysis straight to your inbox.
Tenant engagement is a term we hear a lot of in the sector, especially as new regulation amplifies the responsibility on the part of social landlords to listen to tenants and consider their views. This was the backdrop to an insightful conversation I had with former CIH president and long-standing tenant champion Alison Inman, ahead of her session on the topic at the Housing Community Summit in September. You can read more in our lead piece.
It's also been two weeks since the general election and Labour's emphatic ascendency – though you might think it's been longer, given the pace at which the new government has been moving. Happily for the sector, housing has so far played a starring role in the opening act. You can catch up on all the big housing announcements in our lead analysis piece.
Elsewhere in this issue, we explore sustainability, net zero and the overall progress the sector is making on decarbonisation. CIH Scotland's Ashley Campbell also shares insight into the innovative ways in which Stockholm is marrying housing and net zero and how we might replicate their successes in the UK.
As always, we welcome your feedback on Unlocked, and you can find more information on how to share your thoughts with us at the bottom of the newsletter.
